As an artist, it is important to learn how to hang a canvas painting properly to ensure that it is secure, level, and in the right position on your wall. Here are some steps and tips to follow:
-
Determine the ideal height: Generally, the center of the artwork should be at eye level (around 57-60 inches from the ground). However, this can vary depending on the height of your ceiling and the size of the painting.
-
Choose the right hardware: Use a sturdy picture hanger or a screw with a sturdy anchor to hold the weight of the painting. The hardware you choose should be able to support at least twice the weight of the painting. For our custom blank canvases, we use D-rings.
-
Mark the wall: Use a pencil to mark the wall where you want to hang the painting. Use a level to ensure that the mark is straight.
-
Install the hardware: Follow the manufacturer's instructions to install the picture hanger or screw and anchor at the marked location. Our artist canvases already come with hanging hardware installed so you are free to skip this step!
-
Hang the painting: hang the painting on the wall, ensuring that it is level and straight. Don't forget to step back and look at the painting to make sure that is is centered and level. If it needs to be adjusted carefully remove it from the wall and make any necessary adjustments before rehanging it.
By following these 5 simple steps, you can hang your canvas painting properly and enjoy it for years to come!
